El Hijo Del Perro Aguayo Dies from Injuries Suffered vs. Rey Mysterio

Tragedy struck the Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion wrestling promotion Friday night in Tijuana, Mexico, as popular luchador El Hijo del Perro Aguayo died after suffering an injury in a match against former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio.

According to Mike Coughlin of F4WOnline, the son of Mexican wrestling legend Perro Aguayo went limp while on the ropes in position to take Mysterio's 619 finishing maneuver. It is unclear what caused the incident, but the 35-year-old star was treated by medical personnel before being transported to a hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.

Following news of El Hijo del Perro Aguayo's untimely death, many involved with the wrestling business expressed their condolences on Twitter, including the famed Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine:

Absolutely stunned by the news of El Hijo del Perro Aguayo's death last night in Tijuana. Supremely talented luchador and son of a legend.

Current Pro Wrestling Noah GHC Tag Team champion and former WWE Superstar Lance Hoyt also tweeted a message in support of his fallen peer:

El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. My Thoughts and Prayers go out to his friends and Family.
Very Sad!  A Brother in the Biz has fallen. KMSSL.

Friday night's match was supposed to be a celebration, as Mysterio just recently returned to AAA for the first time since 1997 after parting ways with WWE. Unfortunately, it turned into something far more tragic.

El Hijo del Perro Aguayo was among the most decorated AAA stars in recent memory as a three-time Mexican National Tag Team champion as well as a former Mexican National Light Heavyweight champion and Mexican National Atomicos champion.

There is no question that El Hijo del Perro Aguayo was among the most popular and successful luchadores in Mexico, and he will undoubtedly be missed.
